Elopement At Horseshoe Bend

Adventure Elopement Sedona AZ - Let's Knot And Say We Did

One of our favorite elopements? An elopement at Horseshoe Bend! Horseshoe Bend is one of Arizona’s most famous landmarks and a beautiful elopement location. The natural horseshoe shape into which the Colorado River devours the canyons gave it its name. Because of its sheer height and 1000-foot plunge to the bottom, it isn’t for the faint of heart (or if you’re afraid of heights), but the vistas are spectacular, making it one of Arizona’s finest locations to elope.

We offer elopements that are full of excitement, personality, and are authentic to YOU. Whether you’re seeking an intimate ceremony or a full day of adventure, we will work with you to create a customized experience that is perfect for you and your soulmate. Rich is an expert in writing personalized wedding ceremonies that represent each couple’s unique love story, and I am here to capture it all. If you’re looking to have the wedding of your dreams, Horseshoe Bend is one of the most unique places to do it!

ELOPEMENT AT HORSESHOE BEND IN PAGE, AZ

Kristy + Sean wanted to have their own elopement at Horseshoe Bend! We got to know each other over video calls (since they lived out of state) and we enjoyed every minute of it. This fun + beautiful bride and groom bought one of our All-Inclusive Elopement Packages so that they could show up with peace, knowing everything about their wedding day was taken care of. We held the ceremony at Horseshoe Bend, one of the most gorgeous places on earth!

At first glance, this may seem like just a landscape photo! But Kristy and Sean are there on the edge of the cliff! Can you spot them? 🙂

THE DETAILS

I love getting detail shots! It helps me tell your story in an all encompassing way. Details matter! We want you to look back on every single detail of your wedding day and authentically say, “It was absolutely perfect.”

1. You have to apply for a Special Use Permit.

To get married at Horseshoe Bend, you must obtain a special use permit. This allows you to have your ceremony in the location and take photographs. Permits currently cost $300 and must be applied for at least 45 days prior to your event date. Other costs may apply.

2. There is an entry fee.

The fee to park is $10 per vehicle, $5 per motorcycle & fees for buses range from $35-$140 depending on the size & number of passengers.

The parking lot has been recently expanded to fit more visitors & is easy to maneuver.

*America the Beautiful NPS passes are not valid here.

3. It’s a 10-20 minutewalk.

The distance to the edge is 1.1 miles, and there are two small shaded resting areas along the way. Most of the walk is on a flat road that winds down at a modest slope. If you go slowly, the trip will take approximately 20 minutes! Usually we get down there in about 10 minutes. You may easily do this walk in your wedding dress!

GETTING READY

Kristy and Sean got ready in two separate rooms so that they could have a “First Look” at Horseshoe Bend before the Ceremony. It was really fun running back and forth between their rooms and hanging out with them as they were both getting ready. Kristy was fully channeling Marylin Monroe with her entire wardrobe and style. Sean was just excited to see her. When couples choose to have a first look at the ceremony site instead of the airbnb, the groom usually rides with Rich while I drive the bride in their rental car. Also, Page is such a tiny town it takes about 5 minutes to get literally anywhere.

As part of the “First Look” we offer a Cacao + Eye Gazing Ceremony to begin the first year of marriage with intention.

What is Ceremonial Cacao?

Ceremonial Cacao is Cacao that is prepared with intention and sourced from 100% pure cacao-bean paste that contains a much higher quantity of beneficial, health-restoring, and mood-elevating compounds than any other cacao-based product on the market (like cacao powder, non-ceremonial cacao paste, dark chocolate, etc).

It also has a concentration of health-restoring and consciousness-altering compounds such as theobromine, serotonin, proanthocyanin, anandamine, methylxanthines, tryptophan, phenylethylamin, and many others that when consumed generate a particularly potent heart-warming sensation in the body.

This heart-warming or “heart-opening” sensation is what brings about the uniquely expansive, peaceful, open, and elevated physical and mental states that cacao ceremonies revolve around.

EYE GAZING CEREMONY

Eye gazing is the act of looking into someone’s eyes for an extended amount of time. It’s a powerful, intimate practice that creates depth, nurtures connection, and expands your soul-level intimacy.

After gazing into each other’s left eye for 1-2 minutes, you each get uninterrupted time to share what came up for you and to share your one word intention for your first year of marriage. Lots of JOY was shared for these two!!

BLANKET CEREMONY

A Blanket Ceremony is a Native American tradition that represents the two of you covered in protection and love as you embark on your new chapter together. It is believed that the words of the ceremony and your commitments to one another are woven into the blanket. The blanket then serves as a reminder of all the beautiful promises you’ve made to one another.

We always encourage couples to choose a blanket that means something to them. Just like the song you walk down the “aisle” to, everything can be intentional when it comes to your wedding. In Native tradition, the elders would weave the blanket for the couple. While that would be amazing to have someone make you a blanket or use an old quilt your grandmother made, most couples do not have the luxury of having elders in their lives to gift them such a blanket. So! Find something you LOVE! Kristy and Sean found a blanket that said “Til Death” which really matched their personalities and style.
